## Introducing Early Access

Come imagine with us!

August 13, 2025 by Hilary Mason and Matt Brandwein

We love stories! Books, movies, TV shows, comics, games: we love them all. But the thing about them is, well, they end—and when it’s over, it’s over. But what if you want to hold onto the magical feeling of that world? That experience of reliving the story in your mind, imagining the characters in different situations or conjuring up new ones, hoping for just one more season, or wishing you could experience it all over again for the first time.

If you’ve ever felt that hunger, Hidden Door is for you. It’s a game where roleplay meets fanfiction, and another adventure is always around the corner.

Today we’re thrilled to announce we are launching **early access**, where you can sign up and play in your browser on [hiddendoor.co](/content/site-root.html).

The idea is simple: you choose a world, create characters, and play stories where you can do anything, to change everything. Your worlds are made up of cards, both the things (the characters, items, and locations) and the stories you've played (your accumulated lore). As you play, you'll earn and unlock new cards, and your cards are always evolving with your choices. You can meet your favorite canon characters, pull off an emerald heist in the Emerald City, try to seduce a Vampire Mr. Darcy, or anything else you can imagine.

The worlds of Hidden Door are a real fan experience, designed to capture the spirit of the original works. In addition to cherished public domain favorites like _Pride and Prejudice_ and _The Wizard of Oz_, we’ve partnered with incredible world-builders like acclaimed author Alan Dean Foster for an alien encounter, [831 Stories](https://831stories.com/) for the modern romance of _Big Fan_ by Alexandra Romanoff, and [Pressman Film](https://www.pressman.com/) for bloody vengeance in the world of _The Crow_. And there are many more worlds to come!

We can’t wait to see what you’ll imagine.
